Avondale College alumnus Lex Revell-Lewis (class of 2021) has broken a 27-year-old New Zealand 400m record this week, with a historic sub 46-second run!
The 21-year-old sprinter has become the first Kiwi to run 400m in under 46 seconds, clocking 45.88 seconds to win his heat at an Athletics Victoria meet in Melbourne on Sunday.
Lex has been agonisingly close on multiple occasions but he finally went under 46 seconds to smash the previous national record of 46.09, held by Shaun Farrell since 1998.
Further strengthening the Avcol connection, Lex is coached by Nuree Greenhalg, who also is a former Avondale College student, and mum Judy Revell also is an alumna of the school.
