Two of our Avondale College alumni have been recognised in this year's New Year Honours list!
Nadia Lim was a made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to the food industry.
Nadia said she and her husband were blown away to be receiving this recognition. "And even more so because we are on the list together this year. We are stoked that farming and food production are receiving some of the spotlight."
Peter Leilua received a King's Service Medal for his services to the community, particularly youth and Pacific peoples.
Peter has contributed in the Auckland region on both a professional and voluntary basis as a youth and social worker, receiving several local community volunteer awards.
“Seeing them [youth] being successful in life and resilient through the challenges they go through themselves, watching them navigate their way through challenges, seeing them conquer the challenges they go through in life, it’s amazing.
“We give it back to the community because it’s the success in the community, it’s all from them.”
