Media Studies Film Night

Every year, Avondale College's Media Studies Department hosts a Film Night to celebrate the talent, effort, and exceptional filmmaking skills within senior Media Studies. As an event, the evening showcases the short films made by students for their production assessments, but in a wider sense, it celebrates these young creatives and the people who have supported them along the way.

Friends and whānau alike showed up to enjoy psychological thrillers made by Year 12, a mixture of film noirs and mockumentaries made by Year 13, and a bonus screening of this year's student team entry into the 48 Hour Film Competition Challenge. The calibre of this year's films was incredible, and we are so proud of the incredible mahi and resilience shown by our ākonga.

There were a number of winners on the night, with the top awards taken out by two Year 13 films.  Fan-favourite mockumentary "The La Croix Effect" won People's Choice, and the beautiful and tragic film noir "Divine Beauty" won Best Picture. Congratulations to all of our amazing students - Year 13s, we'll miss you, and Year 12s, we can't wait to see what you create next year!
