MOST OUTSTANDING MUSICAL award for 'Fame'!

Avondale College's production of Fame the Musical won four top awards at the Showdown Awards on Tuesday evening, including the coveted award for "Outstanding Musical"!

The red-carpet event was held at the Bruce Mason Theatre and attended by schools across Auckland who had received nominations for their school musicals and plays. Avcol students Jess Sharp and Allegra d'Souza performed individual items from Fame at the event, alongside performances from Westlake Girls and Westlake Boys' combined production of Into the Woods.

Deservedly winning the "Best Performer in a Supporting Role in a Musical" award was Allegra d'Souza, for her role as Miss Sherman.

We were further delighted that Avondale College's cast and crew won the awards for "Best Vocal Ensemble" and "Best Ensemble in a Performance" - and to top off a fantastic night, the award for "Outstanding Musical"!

These awards are a wonderful recognition of the outstanding work of our cast, crew and Fame production team, led by Show Director Ms Rita Stone. Congratulations to all who were involved!
