Early Childhood Teacher
Avondale College Early Childhood Centre is a not-for-profit multicultural childcare centre located in the grounds of Avondale College. We provide high-quality care and education for children of families from our local and surrounding community as well as for staff working at Avondale College.
We are a small centre with a maximum of 33 children aged from 3 months to 5 years and are committed to providing a ‘home away from home’ environment where individual needs are met and relationships are nurtured and valued.
We are looking for a qualified, registered and experienced Early Childhood Education Teacher to join and lead our small and friendly team in our over two's room. You will need to demonstrate experience of working in the early childhood sector and have a passion for teaching and learning with an understanding of the Te Whariki curriculum.

Community Attendance Officer (Part Time, Fixed Term)

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Community Attendance Officer to join our team. The Community Attendance Officer will play a critical role in monitoring student attendance, connect with whanau regarding attendance matters and supporting efforts to improve overall attendance rates at our kura.
The successful applicant will be an energetic and enthusiastic person who is confident in communicating with various members of the community to enhance the academic and overall outcomes for young people. A current drivers licence is a requirement as home visits will be required. A pre-existing connection to the Avondale community will be a benefit.
This is a part-time, term-time only position for a fixed term to the end of the 2025 school year. Hours are 5 days a week, 8:45am to 11:45am, Monday to Friday.
This position will report to the Attendance Officer and Deputy Principal responsible for student services.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:

Monitoring of attendance records and follow up with students and whanau where required.

Communicate with whanau to address attendance concerns and promote regular attendance.

Maintain accurate attendance records and generate reports as needed.

Implement strategies to reduce truancy and improve overall attendance rates.

Provide support and resources to students and whanau facing attendance challenges.

Assist in the development and implementation of attendance improvement initiatives and programs.

Teacher Aide - Learning Hub
Avondale College is a large multi-cultural secondary school with over 2,800 students and a commitment to excellence. Our HEART values: Honesty, Endeavour, Atawhai, Respect and Tenacity, provide the foundation for our student and staff community.
We are currently looking for a Teacher Aide who is passionate about young people and enjoys working as part of a team. The role involves supporting students in class and progressing their learning and achievement. Experience and/or a good understanding of the challenges that neurodiverse learners face in a secondary school environment is desirable.
The successful candidate will have proven Teacher Aide experience and / or previous experience of working with teenagers. Excellent written and spoken English language skills are essential. Good IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office is preferred.
The role is subject to a satisfactory police vet check.
This position is fixed term, part time, term time only, for Terms 1-4 2025, working up to 30 hours per week between the hours of 8.45am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday term time only. This position is fixed term because it involves working on a project to provide Teacher Aide assistance to specific students.

Guidance Counsellor

As a Guidance Counsellor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a large and diverse student body, from Year 9 through Year 13, as they navigate academic, personal, and mental health challenges. You will provide both individual and group counselling services, working collaboratively with the pastoral team, whānau, deans, senior leadership, and the wider school community. Your advocacy will focus on promoting student success and ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all students, with a strong emphasis on providing preventative services.
We are looking for a passionate and empathetic individual who can build trusted relationships with students, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and remain calm under pressure. A culturally informed approach, understanding and honouring the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, is essential in supporting our diverse community.

Qualifications and Skills:

A recognized counselling qualification and membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).

Experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
